An interview with John

What was your hometown when you came to TCNJ?

Clinton, NJ

Where do you currently call your hometown?

London, UK

When you were studying here, where did you picture yourself after graduation?

I planned to continue my education but did never once thought I would end up abroad for my masters degree!

What was your first job after graduating?

I am currently getting my masters in Archaeology at University College London

How do you use your Anthropology degree in your current career and other activities?

I consistently use background knowledge from a large number of my Anthropology courses for my more focused Archaeology coursework. For instance, I have directly used my experience from Intro to Archaeology (among many other courses) with Dr. Leader and Osteology/Forensic Anthropology with Dr. Beatrice.

What is your favorite "major memory" from your time as a Anthropology student?

My favorite major memory would be attending the Field School course at the William Green House, because those first few days on site completely verified that my dream career was to be an academic archaeologist.

What is some advice you would give to your undergraduate self?

Do as much archaeological fieldwork as you can!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I attended several archaeological field schools that were recommended by members of the department at TCNJ, and found that they were some of the best experiences to boost my academic career in archaeology.
