In December 2025, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and Monmouth University entered into an agreement that grants qualified graduates of TCNJ’s Anthropology (BA) program advanced standing and other benefits upon admission to the Master of Arts Program (MA).
Monmouth will admit to its MA Program in Anthropology those graduates from TCNJ’s BA in Anthropology program who meet the following conditions:
- Candidates must be on track to complete all requirements of the BA degree in Anthropology at TCNJ with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
- Candidates must apply for admission to the MA program according to Monmouth’s application deadlines.
- Monmouth will waive the application fee for TCNJ students applying to the cooperative MA program. The laboratory and comprehensive fees shall not
be waived. - Candidates must satisfy Monmouth’s admission standards for the MA program in effect at the time of the application to Monmouth and successfully complete their bachelor’s degree prior to matriculation at Monmouth.
- Monmouth University provides one three-credit GA position in the first semester (or, with department chair approval,l it can be moved to the second semester), with a choice by the student whether to accept or decline the offer. Students must have a Cumulative GPA. of at least 3.0 in the semester prior to being awarded a GA position.
Transfer Credits for TCNJ Courses
Monmouth will allow qualified TCNJ faculty to supervise independent study courses for graduate credit (not to exceed 6 credits) with TCNJ students coming into the Monmouth MA program. A grade of B or better is required for credits to transfer into Monmouth’s MA program.
Anthropology Program Director
Monmouth has designated Monmouth University’s Anthropology Graduate Program Director to facilitate the program. The Anthropology Graduate Program Director shall provide:
- Guidance to TCNJ students interested in the program.
- Assistance to TCNJ students in the Monmouth application process.
- Coordination of the cooperation program.
- The program director will review/approve the TCNJ supervised independent study proposals in advance of the course as part of the cooperative program.
